It's a clever, charming, low-cost evening of detective work that real players adore, as long as you go in knowing the cases are one-and-done and the map is huge.
Best for: Families and couples who love puzzles and a good "found it!" moment
What it is
Here's the pitch. You unfold a poster-sized black-and-white map of a chaotic little city, and then you solve crimes by literally finding stuff on it. A case card sends you hunting for a victim, a weapon, a suspect, and you trace the story across the page like a tiny detective. Johannes Sich drew a world where every square inch hides a gag or a clue. It won the Spiel des Jahres in 2021, and honestly, you'll see why fast.
The catch
Now the honest part. This isn't a deep deduction game. You're spotting things, not cracking logic puzzles, so manage your expectations there. The map is genuinely huge (it can eat a whole dinner table), and you'll want strong light and decent eyes. Players keep ditching the little magnifying glass for their phone camera zoom. And the box says 1-4, but most folks agree 2 to 3 is the real ceiling before people are elbowing each other.
Who it's for
The catch everyone mentions: once you've solved a case, it's solved. There are 16 cases, and a keen group can blow through them in a few sittings. But for around 25 bucks, that's still hours of charming, low-stress fun, and the puzzles run from easy to satisfyingly sneaky. If you've got a puzzle-loving family or a partner who likes hunting for details, you'll both have a great time.
